For the second time this season, Tennessee State guard Erica Haynes-Overton was named the Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week. In matchups last week, the guard averaged 25.0 points, 4.0 steals, 1.5 assists and shot an uber-efficient 58.6% from the floor.
Last week the Kansas transfer scored 30 points on 11/16 FG in the Tigers’ loss at SIUE and followed that up for with 20 points, 5 steals, and 2 assists in the come-from-behind victory over Lindenwood.
On the season, Haynes-Overton averages 14.9 points per game, ranking her third in the Ohio Valley Conference, only trailing Eastern Illinois’ Lariah Washington (19.2) and Hannah Hathcock if USI (15.2).
Up next for the Lady Tigers is their first home game of the calendar year, a Thursday evening matchup with UT-Martin.Tip-off time foe the contest is set for 5:30 pm CST.
